"RULES" of riding with DCH:
Our rules are to protect all riders' safety and unite our group as one unit.
- To join our rides, we ask that riders have a minimum riding experience of 500 miles riding time. If your bike is new, it needs to be past the break in period.
- All riders must have valid motorcycle permit or license.
- All motorcycles must have current insurance, registration and safety check.
- All motorcycles need to be in good mechanical condition to participate in DCH rides. This is for everyone’s safety and consideration of the others in the group
- You need to be able to ride a minimum of the posted speed limit (or the flow of traffic), especially on the freeway. If you are not comfortable riding at these speeds, you are not ready for group riding.
- You are REQUIRED to provide ‘emergency contact’ information before riding with the group, this information will be carried by the DCH ride leaders/sweepers in case of an accident.
- REQUIRED attire on DCH rides: helmet, long pants, shirt, closed-toe shoes/boots.
- Suggested attire on DCH rides: gloves, jacket or long-sleeve shirt, sturdy shoes / boots with ankle protection.
- No males allowed on the ride.
- No drinking alcohol or using drugs before or during DCH rides. If you are under the influence while riding, you will be asked to leave.
- Always follow the designated leader of the ride.
- All riders will ride in a tight staggered pattern, meaning you need to keep tight enough that cars don’t get between bikes, while giving yourself and the other bikes room to maneuver. (one bike length apart rule).
- All riders need to use hand signals and/or blinkers, when turning.
- Do not ‘rush or push’ other riders. We all are at different skill levels and we should try to accommodate everyone.
- If you want to pass another rider, only do so if either they wave you by or if you can safely pull into another lane of traffic to pass.
- Riders are not permitted to listen to music (headphones, iPods, etc) while on a DCH ride.
- We do not discriminate against race, age, religious preference or sexual preference – all female riders are welcome.
- All riders are expected to treat each other with respect and common courtesy.
- Know your limits and ride within them.
Group riding is not for everyone ~ if you can not adhere to these rules, please do not ride with the group.
*All statements and/or rules are subject to change at any time by DCH founder's and/or leader's discretion.
